At Piedmont Community Services, our mission is to bring hope and support to our community. We recently had the honor of partnering with CHILL, the RAH (Resilience and Hope) Coalition, and several other local organizations to kick off Mental Health and Suicide Awareness Month at Franklin County’s first home football game. This event, held at Franklin County High School, was an incredible opportunity to unite the community and youth in raising awareness and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health struggles.
As part of the Stay in the Game initiative, we joined forces with Autos By Nelson, Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital, Tri-Area Community Health, Common Grace Videography, B99.9 Southern Virginia’s Country Station, the Rocky Mount Police Department, and many others to share a message of hope and resilience. The event featured performances from the Franklin County Band and a special appearance from the Bassett Bengals, reinforcing the power of community in the fight for mental health awareness.
Our focus is clear: You Matter. You Are Not Alone. You Are Loved. It is easy to feel isolated when struggling with mental health, but support is always available. If you or someone you know needs help, you can reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for immediate assistance. By dialing #988, you can be connected to trained professionals who provide confidential and compassionate support 24/7.
Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention are critical issues, and it is more important than ever to have conversations that promote understanding and support. Together, we can challenge the stigma that prevents so many from seeking help. This event was a reminder that there is strength in community and that no one has to struggle alone.
We are so grateful to all of our partners, participants, and supporters who came together to make this event a success. Your commitment to breaking mental health stigmas and spreading hope is invaluable. Let’s continue working together to build a resilient community where mental health is prioritized and support is accessible to all.
If you are struggling or know someone who is, please reach out. You are not alone—help is just a phone call away at #988Lifeline.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this important cause, and remember: Stay in the Game. Your life matters.
